LAGIP Conference & AGM, 24 March 2012

LAGIP has decided to hold a one-day conference and AGM this coming 24th March, before the end of this financial year. 

The conference will start at 09.30 Saturday and the AGM will start at 14.30 (registration at 09.00 - 09.30) and will be held in:

We have booked and paid for 40 rooms in this hotel for the Friday night for people with more than 2 hours travelling time.  We also have 80 hotel rooms booked and paid for the Saturday night, open to members regardless of length of travel. 

Please note, due to budgetary restrictions the rooms are single occupancy so if you want to bring your partner this accomodation will not be suitable.  There will be no dinner provided on the Friday or Saturday nights but a buffet lunch will be provided Saturday and breakfast is provided with the rooms. 

What's happening at the conference? 
Some details are still to be confirmed, however LAGIP will be holding these workshops: 

  • Working with Trans Clients
with Helen Dale & Gilda White (Probation) and Heather Stanley (Prisons) 

Outlining the protocol that GMPT has developed for working with trans offenders and victims - and provide information about the contract that Inner Enigma has with GMPT to support transgendered clients; Gilda, one of the IE support workers will answer questions from her experience of working with trans offenders. Heather will speak about the Prison Service Instruction for working with trans prisoners and about the compact that they have developed. 
  • Hate Crime/ Victim Support
Paula Goergen 

Paula will talk about hate crime and victim support. She works for Victim Support in Manchester. 
  • IDAP
A workshop on IDAP is planned, details TBC. 
  • Another workshop, details TBC

Navigator and Springboard Courses

We have postponed the start of the Springboard and Navigator workshops in order to allow more delegates to book on. 

The January and February dates have been cancelled; the March and April dates have been kept as planned and new dates organised for May and June.

You should also have been advised that we have been able to reduce the cost for members who are paying their own fees from £120 per person to £60 - this is due to some Trusts funding the full cost of the places for some of their staff.
